Who is Southwest Funding?
Based in Dallas, Texas since 1993, we started operations under the name North Texas Residential Mortgage. We enjoyed great success early on and before long we were serving the entire state of Texas. This growth caused us to drop the word "North" and operate simply as Texas Residential Mortgage.
In 1996, we received HUD approval and started originating FHA loans. Quickly becoming a market leader in North Texas, our single location office could not accommodate the fast growing number of originators that wanted to join our company and the retail mortgage branch platform was born. We started opening offices all over Texas and saw production quickly rise. In addition to brokering loans, we secured warehouse lines and started funding some of our loans as a mortgage banker.
Having outgrown the office building in Dallas, Texas we occupied at the time and with no more space available, we purchased our own building in 2001, which to this day continues to serve as the hub of our operations. We started underwriting loans in house, but continued to offer both a hybrid correspondent lending channel and a broker channel for our retail branch offices. This three channel distribution platform allows our branch offices to access the best of everything in the market and most importantly requires us to stay competitive with our turn times, pricing and service.
We continued to grow and thrive in the industry. In 2003 and 2004 we were recognized by INC Magazine as one of the top fastest growing private companies. It was also during this time when the name Texas Residential Mortgage was changed to Southwest Funding to better accommodate business in other states. We enjoyed the earlier years when the loan approval process was simpler. We learned the value of managing our risk for the benefit of all our mortgage branches.
Having started as a small mortgage broker in Texas almost 20 years ago, we understand what it takes to be successful. Our experience has helped shape our retail mortgage branch platform over these many years and our direct lending capabilities allow you to operate as a mortgage banker, but we also give you the flexibility and freedom to operate as a mortgage broker on any loan.
